The International U-13 Youth Football Tournament between Vietnam and Japan marks the initiation of a meaningful football exchange between Kawasaki Frontale and Becamex Binh Duong clubs, starting from 2013 in Binh Duong. Numerous plans have been implemented, including football exchange activities and the establishment of football classes for teenagers from both countries. The tournament has played a role in further strengthening the friendship between the two nations through football interactions and support for the youth.

The year 2023 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. A special friendly match between the top teams of both clubs was organized in November 2022 as a lively kickoff event for the anniversary year. Additionally, this year's tournament, the 5th edition, also marks the 50th anniversary of the friendly relations between Japan and ASEAN. With the participation of teams from Malaysia, a total of 12 teams will fiercely compete in this year's tournament.
